Hilbert and Euclidean Stabilization of Topological Manifold.

Abstract: The category of topological manifolds can be stabilized by crossing with the Hilbert cube, Euclidean space, or both. These stabilized versions of geometric topology admit purely algebraic description. Furthermore, one can recover a ``good approximation'' to the category of topological manifolds by taking a certain fiber product of these stabilized
versions of geometry.

We meet weekly on Friday afternoons at Penn State Altoona (and sometimes at Penn State University Park). If you are interested in giving a talk in our seminar please contact one of the coordinators for the Spring 2009 semester: Wojtek Dorabiala and Aissa Wade.
