Constructions and applications of motivic cohomology operations.

Abstract: We will present a construction of the reduced power operations in motivic cohomology, following the topological analogue of Karoubi. Then we compare our construction with that of Voevodsky following the classical route of Steenrod. The relation is that of a fixed point set with its associated homotopy fixed point set. Time permitting, we may discuss the applications of such operations to the proof of Milnor and Bloch-Kato conjectures.

We meet weekly on Thursday afternoons, alternating between Penn State Altoona and Penn State University Park. If you are interested in giving a talk in our seminar please contact one of the coordinators for the Fall 2008 semester: Wojtek Dorabiala and Aissa Wade.
