Some remarks on the homotopy theory of algebras over operads

Abstract: Operads provide a nice way for characterizing and studying a wide range of very important types of algebras, such as associative, Lie, commutative and Poisson algebras. The aim of this talk will be to look at two ways to categorically model multiplicative resolutions for algebras over a fixed operad: simplicially and differentially. We will examine how the Dold-Kan correspondence provides a comparison between the two perspectives and indicate how the comparison can be altered to an equivalence.

We meet weekly on Thursday afternoons, with the third meeting of each month in Altoona. If you are interested in giving a talk in our seminar please contact one of the coordinators for the Fall 2007 semester: Young Choi and Aissa Wade.
