Estimating the number of path components of the space of broken flow lines

Abstract: In this talk I will discuss some results due to John-Josef Leth concerning the number of path components of a compactified moduli space of gradient flow lines. In certain cases the number of path components can be computed by counting critical points and gradient flow lines.

We meet weekly on Thursday afternoons, with the third meeting of each month in Altoona. If you are interested in giving a talk in our seminar please contact one of the coordinators for the Spring 2006 semester: Aissa Wade and Wojciech Dorabiala.
