Jacobians of Riemann Surfaces with Parametrized Boundary.

Abstract: In this talk we extend the notion of Jacobian of a closed Riemann surface to open Riemann surfaces with parametrized boundary. Such ``open abelian varieties'' admit gluing and have the required structure to be the domain of definition for a conformal field theory. The Jacobian map from such Riemann surfaces to ``open abelian varieties'' is a map of such structure, and lattice conformal field theories factor through this map. In addition to the Jacobian map, I will also recall the rigorization of Segal's conformal field theory. This is joint work with Igor Kriz. .

We meet weekly on Thursday afternoons, with the third meeting of each month in Altoona. If you are interested in giving a talk in our seminar please contact one of the coordinators for the Spring 2006 semester: Aissa Wade and Wojciech Dorabiala.
