Detecting monomorphisms on braid groups
Abstract: Bigelow recently showed that braid groups are linear i.e., that they admit a finite dimensional faithful linear represnetation. His methods are geometric. In this talk we will give conditions that will guarantee that morphisms from the pure braid groups to any groups and monomorphisms. The conditions are on the induced Lie algebra of the lower central series of the pure braid group.
