The Hofer Metric, Part III

Abstract: We present Polterovich/Sikorav's proof that the Hofer pseudo-norm is non-degenerate. One estimates the displacement energy $e(L)$ of rational Lagrangian submanifolds $L$ in $R^2n$ and compare it with an invariant $gamma(L)$ defined by its Liouville class. The final argument is a non squeezing result of Sikorav based on Gromov's techniques of pseudo-holomorphic curves.
