Michael David Weiner joined the faculty as assistant professor of mathematics at Penn State Altoona in the Fall of 1996 after spending a year as a visiting professor at Colgate University. Dr. Weiner received his Ph.D. from Binghamton University (formerly SUNY Binghamton) and has had over ten years of experience teaching a wide variety of courses at Colgate University, Broome Community College, and the State University of New York at Binghamton before coming to Penn State Altoona. Dr. Weiner's main research interests are in vertex operator algebra's (VOA) and para-algebras (VOPA) in which he has produced several papers in refereed journals. He is also interested in infinite dimensional lie algebras and quantum theory. His work includes single authorship contributions as well as work done in collaboration with faculty members outside of Penn State.
