Karl Lorensen has been at Penn State Altoona since Fall 2000. Before arriving here, he taught at Vassar College, Hope College, Eastern Mediterranean University (in the Turkish part of the island of Cyprus), and SUNY-Binghamton (where he received his PhD in 1997 under the direction of Peter Hilton). His research is in group theory, with its primary focus on the localization of groups at sets of primes.
