Bachelor of Science Degree in Science
Mathematics Option
The Bachelor of Science Degree in Science with a Mathematics Option is a rigorous but
flexible degree program in the mathematical sciences. The degree program allows students
to explore a diverse set of topics in mathematics, computer science, computer engineering,
physics, and the life sciences. This program provides students with a multidisciplinary
approach to their study of the mathematical sciences which allows great flexibility
upon entering the job market.

bluebook. Below is a summary of these requirements, included for
orientation only.

Number of credits required for the degree:
For the B.S. degree in science, a minimum of 124 credits is required, with at
least 15 credits at the 400-level.
Students must complete the requirements listed in the core curriculum and in the mathematics option. Within the 124 credits, students must also satisfy the University's
General Education:
45 credits (15 of these 45 credits are included in the requirements for the major).

29 - 37 credits
(This includes 15 credits of General Education courses: 9 credits of GN courses;
6 credits of GQ courses.)
Grade Requirements:
If a course is marked with [1], then a student enrolled in this major must receive a
grade of C or better in it, as specified in Senate Policy 82-44.
