Bachelor of Science in Mathematics
General Option
This degree program allows students to construct, within limits, their own mathematics
curricula. It accommodates students interested in a particular area of application or
students with a wide range of interests within mathematics. The General Option
requires at least one course at the 400-level in each of the areas of analysis,
algebra, and probability. An approved sequence of 12 credits is required
in mathematics, in a related area, or in an area of application outside of mathematics.

Number of credits required for the degree:
For the B.S. degree in Mathematics, a minimum of 120 credits is required.
General Education:
45 credits (6-12 of these 45 credits are included in the requirements for the major).

Entrance to major: In order to be eligible for entrance to the Mathematics major, a student must have:

80-90 credits (This includes 6-12 credits of General Education courses: 6 credits of GQ courses.
Grade Requirements:
If a course is marked with [1], then a student enrolled in this major must receive a
grade of C or better in it, as specified in Senate Policy 82-44.
