This degree program is for students whose interests outside mathematics are oriented toward the arts, humanities, and social sciences. The requirements in these areas are greater than those for the Bachelor of Science degree. Students in this degree program are strongly encouraged to select a sequence of courses in an area of application. These courses can be used as supporting courses. Areas similar to those in the Systems Analysis or General Option can be used.

Number of credits required for the degree: For the B.A. degree in Mathematics, a minimum of 120 credits is required.

Bachelor of Arts Degree Requirements: 24 credits. (See description of Bachelor of Arts Degree Requirements in front of Undergraduate Degree Programs Bulletin.)

General Education: 45 credits (6 of these 45 credits are included in the requirements for the major). See description of General Education in front of Undergraduate Degree Programs Bulletin.

Entrance to major: In order to be eligible for entrance to the Mathematics major, a student must have:

• Attained at least a 2.00 cumulative grade point average.
• Completed MATH 140 GQ(4) and MATH 141 GQ(4); and earned a grade of C or better in each of these courses.

Number of credits required for the major: 56 credits (This includes 6 credits of General Education GQ courses.)

Grade Requirements: If a course is marked with [1], then a student enrolled in this major must receive a grade of C or better in it, as specified in Senate Policy 82-44.
